Orangey-Blue

Fun little story for the weekend....

Holynd and I painted our toenails the other day. She loved it and it wasn't nearly as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be. She's getting to be kinda a smartie-pants though...

Mommy: Holynd, what color are your toenails?

Holynd: Blue

Mommy: No, they're orange.

Holynd: Umm.... Orange-Blue.

Mommy: No, pretty sure they're just orange.

Holynd: (Big Sigh) Ok, Orangey-Blue.

Mommy: Sure.

:)

PS: We bought a Volvo.... VRRROOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!

Addicted...

Lori! This post is for you!

We were playing in Holynd's playhouse. I "knocked" on the door, she answered and said, "Hi! Can I help you?" I laughed and said "Yes! Will you help me?" (I had no idea where she was going with this...)

Then she said, "You wanted a diet coke??"

"YES!!!" I said.

Then she proceed to "fill" my "coke" in the play kitchen and hand it out the door.

"You're welcome mommy." She said. "Drive away!"

I may have to limit my drink runs.

Pretty sure I'm up for Mother of the Year!

Foregoing

I have two things I am foregoing... One of which is a permanent foregoing, the other is a temporary one.

1. Baby food - Permanent on Sloanie's behalf. It sucks. I hate baby food. She hates it. We've moved on. So far she's enjoyed: Fresh carrots, Tator Tot Casserole, Homemade Black Beans, Asparagus, Fresh Bananas, Fresh Pineapple (which has turned into her favorite) and Mac and Cheese. Tonight she will have Chicken Stuffing Casserole. I have to admit, it's nice to have one of the girls eat my cooking. Holynd is too much of a control freak to have her dinner chosen for her. She sets her own menu- usually it's grilled cheese, yogurt, fruit, chicken nuggets or cereal. Sometimes she'll sneak in a hot dog to keep it interesting. I can't figure her out... Sometimes she wants chips for dinner, which seems typical for a 2 year old, but other times she wants to eat raw potatoes right out the fridge... Not so typical.

2. Potty Training - I attempted again this morning. It lasted a whole 30 minutes. After listening to Holynd sob uncontrollably about wearing Dora panties and refusing to sit on the potty, I quit. She gets to the point where I know she has to go, she knows she has to go, but she can not figure out how to PEE SITTING DOWN! It's weird. But, she sits on the potty, groans in pain because she has to go SO BAD and then stands up and pees... I'm over it. Temporary foregoing-ness.

In other news, we may have found a new car. I say "may" because this new car dream seems to be something the Lord and my husband just like to dangle in front of me, just out of reach, to see how crazy I'll go. Sigh... Someday...

We Heart 'The Hives'

From the day we found out we were pregnant, Matt and I have wanted our babies to love music as much as we do. We love to have "dance parties", but today I decided we needed to capture it.

Holynd keeps telling me "Mom! I rock 'n round!" My favorite part is when she stops to suck on her binkie for 2 seconds and then keeps dancing!

PS: This is one of my most favorite songs!

Learning to be grateful for...

Hot water.

Our water heater exploded last night. It was awesome. It flooded the condos below us and today I am without any hot water. Luckily, it exploded right AFTER I had bathed Holynd and Sloane.

Which was good because Holynd had eaten 90,000 Valentine's Tootsie Rolls and was covered!

Matt had to "bath" in the sink this morning, which was interesting and now whenever I turn a tap on water shoots everywhere because of all the air in the pipes. (You ought to hear the sounds the toilet makes when someone flushes! Pretty crazy!) Ugh, and my sink is full of dishes that will have to be washed by hand in cold water. Maybe I'll boil water on my stove... maybe. But then I'd have to turn on a tap, which means water would go everywhere... Barf!

Could this day be anymore awesome?!

No worries though, they're out there putting in new water heater right now. For the next couple of days, I will be saying prayers everytime I turn on hot water.

Sometimes I think the Lord has a sense of humor in the ways he reminds us to be grateful.

Husband! No water = no "Clean-Bathroom-Tuesday" = very frustrated wife = husband who takes his wife out for fish tacos = wife who "disappears" during lunch to shop = less frustrated wife = Chili and homemade corn bread for dinner....
