It's OVER!

Yesterday was the last day of class! No more school!
*
Well, until June 25th, I'm taking a Summer Semester. So is Matt, but he has yet to register for his classes. (Another irony of our marriage, I've been registered for summer since March and Matt hasn't even looked yet.)
*
This summer semester will basically be my last semester for my Bachelor's Degree. I have ONE class I have to take this Fall... I just read that and I still find it ridiculous that my schedule ended up that way! Because of a few budget cuts (I'm sure you've heard... Recession, budget cuts, government spending, tax cuts, etc. Ring any bells?) not all the classes I needed were offered this summer.
*
But that's ok. I took it as a sign that Bean and I needed to hang out at the pool all summer long. I'm totally F-I-N-E with that!
*
As for my plans... I plan to become a professional student for now. I think about graduating and it makes me cry! I love my major and I love to learn. I'm going to take my graduate exams this Fall and see what happens after that.
Matt has agreed to fund my education habit.
*
It has always seemed strange to me
that in our endless discussions about education
so little stress is laid on the pleasure
of becoming an educated person,
the enormous interest it adds to life.
To be able to be caught up into the world of thought -- that is to be educated.
- Edith Hamilton

We both take our last final this Tuesday! :)
Matt seriously needs some recognition for how hard he worked this semester. His daily schedule has went something like this:
*
Work
School During Lunch
Work
School After Work
Homework
Homework
Homework
Sleep
*
Somehow he still managed to squeeze in being an awesome husband and dad.
He works really hard so that I can stay home with Bean.

You Were Sent to the Crazy's.

Holynd,

You are four months old today. I can't believe how time has flown. Sometimes I can't even remember life before you came... (Your dad and I were pretty boring, I guess!) I wanted to let you know what what kind of person you're becoming so far...

You love apples. G-Ma and Mommy give you apples to suck on and you SCREAM when we take them away. You also love frosting, strawberries, and sugar off of Churros. You already love food so much. You kick and get excited when you sit at the table with us at meals. (Your Mom is going to get the Worst Mom Ever Award for letting you eat all this stuff. But you make the cutest faces!)

The other day you gave Dad's toast to the dog. Now the dog has forgotten all about how you almost ripped his face off. You are his new best friend.

Unlike most babies, you hate the car. You are only content during a car ride if the car is going 70 miles an hour. I hope that's not a clue of how you'll be when you drive.

You are the best napper! As long as Mommy puts you in your swing at 1pm on the dot, you'll sleep for three hours.

You always wake up with a big smile on your face. Even at 6am.

Your dad is wrapped around your finger already. He can't stand to hear you fuss or cry. If you could talk all you would have to say is "Jump" and Dad would say "How high?".

When Mom watches Regis and Kelly, you seem to think they are actually talking to you. You talk and talk to the TV through the whole show.

You think it's hilarious to fart and burp.

Sometimes I think you are wondering if you were sent to the right family. I'm pretty sure you are already embarressed by your Mom and Dad.

Even though the dog hates it, you think it's funny when Mom accidentally hits him with the stroller on our walks.

You think that Mom and Dad's bed is your bed. At times, you can't figure out why Mom and Dad insist on sleeping with you 'cause you kick the crap out of them.

When we first brought you home, one of your favorite songs to here was the "Baby" version of the U of U Fight Song.

I am a Utah Baby and I live across the Green!
I am the cutest baby that you have ever seen!
A Utah Baby, a Utah Babe am I
A Utah Baby...
I will be 'til I die!
*
You snore just like your Dad.

You sneeze just like your Dad. Always three sneezes in a row.

You love showers and hate baths.

Holynd, I know you already know you were sent to the crazy's house. Your Dad and I have no idea what were doing. You are an awesome baby despite this!

Your Dad and I live by this quote:

"Like all parents, my husband and I just do the best we can, and hold our breath,
and hope we've set aside enough money to pay for our kids' therapy."
---Michelle Pfeiffer

So hopefully if we completely screw you up, we'll at least be able to pay for your therapy later on! Love you Boo!

You're Stupid... (And Another BIG Annoucement)

Matt and I are very much opposites...

There are days when I seriously can not figure Matt out and I'm sure he feels the same way about me.

This scene in Friends really explains Matt and I quite well.

Talking'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owtFCPaMM_8">Talking about YouTube - Friends - Season 6 - Cute Scene

The other night my allergies were driving me crazy. I was really grumpy and not that much fun to be around. Right before we went to bed, Matt and I had this conversation.

Tanshyle: (Huge Frowning Face) Arrggggggggg!!!
Matt: What's wrong?
Tanshyle: My eye itches! Really really really bad itches!
Matt: I'm sorry. What can I do for you?
Tanshyle: Just nothing!
Matt: Want me to itch it for you?
Tanshyle: You're stupid....
Matt: I love you too.

Now that you have a little background on Matt and I's relationship. We can get to the big annoucement.

After 14 months. Yes! 14 Months without a haircut. Matt and I finally compromised and he cut his hair!

Because Matt and I are total opposites, we've been fighting about this haircut for awhile.

Matt refuses to pay for a haircut whereas I refuse to have him cut his hair in our bathroom. For that last couple of months everytime Matt would whine about his hair I would remind him that haircuts were only $7. Everytime I would complain about Matt's "phro" getting out of hand, he would remind me that he was capable of cutting his own hair right at that moment.

So we compromised, he cut his hair in the spare bathroom while I hid in the living room trying to distract myself from the thought of one of my bathrooms being covered with hair!

I finally caved yesterday morning. The conversation went something like this.

Tanshyle: JUST CUT YOUR HAIR! I don't care if you cut it while naked on the deck, just cut it! You look like the dog! Can you even see?! How can you drive?! You're going to get in a car wreck!
(Stay tuned for a post in regards to car wrecks. I need to get outside and take a picture of the truck. The story is pretty hilarious.)
Matt: I can cut my own hair?
Tanshyle: YES! Anything!
Matt: Ok. I love you. See you tonight. (Big smile)

Here is all the hair! Can you believe how much hair my husband had on his head!

Half way there....

All done!!!!!!! Finally!!!

Conversation after the haircut is finally finished...

Tanshyle: It looks good! Good job!
Matt: Thanks.
Tanshyle: Do you feel better?
Matt: So much better. (Long Pause) Do you think the baby will reconize me?
Tanshyle: (Laughs) No, she'll be meeting you for the first time. She hasn't been able to see your face since the day she was born.
Matt: I can finally see without getting poked in the eye by hair!
Tanshyle: Great... (While thinking, "I can't believe the bathroom was just covered with hair!")

Throwdown: Holynd vs Heckles

Heckles hasn't shown much interest in the baby since she has started to blabber, drool, kick and scream.
In fact, sometimes I think he misses his peace-and-quiet.
He still hates it when she cries and doesn't hesitate to bark his head off when she wakes up from her nap and begins to fuss.

However, lately there has been a little war going on.

Holynd has an addiction..... A stuffed animal addiction. The dog can't stand it.

With that in mind, meet Yurdle the Turtle.

Yurdle has been a life-saver for me because he keeps Holynd entertained so that I can tackle housework knowing that Holynd is occupied. Holynd likes to "talk" to him and chew on his head.
The dog has different feelings. Now, Matt and I are not one of those couples that considers Heckles one of our children. He is a dog, a pet. We love him as a pet.
So when I noticed that he started to sniff Holynd's newfound friend, I told him no and figured that Yurdle would have to be closely watched in order to prevent himself from becoming a "Dog-Only Toy". (Holynd would've been heartbroken if her Yurdle had to be taken away.)
Little did I know that Holynd could hold her own.
While I was doing dishes yesterday, I heard Heckles begin to yelp. I walked into the living room to see what was up and I couldn't believe what had happened.
In response to Heckles sniffing her beloved Yurdle, Holynd had grabbed the dog's chin hair and pulled with all her might. All the while, keeping a firm grasp on her Yurdle. (Because Heckles knows that he's no more than a pet, he didn't dare fight back.)
The dog doesn't dare come close to the stuffed animal now.
PS: Since this story was directly related to Holynd. I figured I could post about my pet. My mom has a strict rule on not posting about pets. However, Heckles had to be mentioned in order to prove that my daughter is very smart and a little bit mean.

Hi! My Name Is Holynd!

My name is Holynd.... Holl-E-Bean... Holl-E-Wood... Holynd-Boo... or Juanita. (For those of you who are fans of Desperate Housewives. My baby is a Baby-Juanita. She eats all the time.)

Life as a four month old is really hard! Here is my life in a nutshell!

This is me when........
I'm getting ready for bed!

I'm sleeping. Mommy's favorite time of the day!

I'm supposed to be sleeping and I'm really trying to bust out of my cradle!

I watch basketball with my dad.

I fall asleep 'cause bastketball is boring!

I'm going to the Doctor. I H-A-T-E going to the doctor.

Mommy forgets to do up the buckle on my chair.
I'm always trying to wiggle out of it.

I play games with Mom and Dad.

I help Mommy cook.
(Daddy says Mommy's apron is H-O-T!)

That's my life in a nutshell! See how hard life is for me!!!!!
