Holynd-isms

First things first. We have to give Uncle Ikie a big CONGRATS for scoring his first touchdown this weekend! Holynd and Sloane love to go watch Ikie practice. Maybe one of these days we'll get to go to a game. It's comforting to watch my mom raise these little boys. It gives me hope that I might be able to figure it out one day. ;)

I had to help Ikie put his pads on one day before practice. It's complicated!

Now on to the post....

Holynd helping me make cookies.

Holynd thinks she's a lot older then she is. I can't believe the things she says sometimes. I have to write them down because one day I may need them as blackmail.

*I've been working on giving Holynd choices. Otherwise, she'll let me list off options for days. For example, "Holynd do you want yogurt or applesauce?" "No." "Holynd those are your only two choices" "I want..... I want..... I want....Not yogurt or applesauce" "Sorry, only two choices" "Ok, applesauce". Today she told Matt and I that we couldn't watch what we wanted to on TV. We had to watch the pussy cat (Looney Tunes) and those were our only choices. She even added a snotty 'sorry' at the end of it, just to be extra obnoxious.

*Sweetie and Sweetheart are Holynd two new favorite words. She's always telling me, "That's ok sweetie", "I'll do it sweetheart". I'm not exactly sure where she picked that up because I don't think Matt nor I have ever called the girls sweetie or sweetheart.

*We went to a birthday party yesterday. Sloane was on the floor playing and a little boy tried to interact with her. Sloane, of course, just stared at the little boy and waddled away. Holynd, however, did not stand for this. "That is my baby Sloanie! She is my baby sister!".

*The other day when I asked Holynd if she needed to go potty, she replied, "Nope. I already went at 3, 4, 5, and 6".

*I seem to hear, "Mom! We have a big problem!" from Holynd far too often. She's is never exaggerating when she says this. Whatever she's informing me about is usually a BIG problem.

*About a week ago, I was taking dinner to someone in the ward. Holynd was very confused as to why I was packing up our dinner and putting it in the car. When I told her it was for someone who was sick from church, she thought I meant we were going to see a doctor at the church. When we pulled into our driveway after dropping off the dinner, she said, "But Mom! We still have to go see the doctor at the church! Mom! Drive to the church!".

*Holynd calls Diet Pepsi, "Dee Coke". She loves to bring me a Dee Coke. "Holynd, mommy really needs a Dee Coke" "Ok, Mommy! I can get you a Dee Coke". Sometimes, though, she delegates, "Dad!!!!!!!!!! Bring Mommy a Dee Coke!".

*Holynd has recently figured out how to log-in to my laptop, pull up the Netflix website, find the kids' category and start a cartoon. She also knows how to start a new episode when one gets over. She's really not supposed to get on the laptop without supervision and she knows this. So, when I catch her on the computer when she's not supposed to be, she immediately starts typing feverishly and then says, "I am a mommy and I'm working on this computer."

*We've been shopping for fall clothes. Holynd loves to put on new clothes, but even more then that she LOVES new shoes! One night we were going grocery shopping as a family (Something that hardly ever happens because I quite enjoy grocery shopping ALONE). Holynd really wanted to wear her new shoes. I let her and as we were walking into Walmart she yelled, "Hey all you people!!! Look at my new shoes!!!!".

*Potty training is not my favorite. Let me share an example of what potty training a child like Holynd is like. I catch her in the kitchen standing on her toes. (In Holynd's case, always a warning sign). "Holynd! Hurry and run to the potty! You need to go!" She tries to smile and says, "It's ok Mommy. I don't need to go. I'm squeezing my bum together...". Lovely...
